The project "The heartbreaking of a uniform fabric" is a garment made by me in a two-needle knit fabric and finished with a handmade embroidery. This garment is made up of a union between various materials that merge and collide with each other. On the one hand, acrylic wool in two shades of red and natural wool from Cucunubá in three shades of blue, dyed with Iris by Rosalba, an artisan from that small Colombian town known for its wool production. On the other hand, different crochet threads in two shades of blue and one white and lastly newspaper spun by me at home. All this garment is a translation into the fabric of the thoughts that the poem "I like when you shut up" from Twenty love poems and a desperate song by Pablo Neruda generated in me. With each stitch, I questioned that negative connotation that Pablo Neruda gives to the silences and absences that his lover gives him. Since, from my perspective, these absences are not tearing holes in the middle of a uniform fabric, it is not an error that needs to be sewn to unite, it is rather a silence that desperately seeks to normalize itself.
